Preview Week 5

Topic

We need your kiwiana items! We have started our kiwiana wall. So far we have weetbix boxes, edmonds baking powder, L&P bottles, and wattie’s sauce! We have shared our Kiwi author projects these past few weeks as well. Bring these into class share ASAP.

We will be looking at World icons this week. Discuss any icons you are aware of with your child this week.

Spelling

Reading

At least 15 minutes a night.

Maths

Students will be conducting their own statistical investigation this week. Please be ready with any equipment you need by Friday.

Week 3 Preview

Room 9 preview. Camp books have been handed out today, we have added a title page to their homework. This needs to be back by Wednesday. Thanks team!

Spelling:

New set of words this week. Practise every night. Our quiz will be on Friday!

Reading:

Read at least 20 minutes each night.

Topic:

We will be creating a kiwiana wall. Bring in any kiwi products, for example; weetbix box, wattie’s sauce label, NZ magazine cover. Research a kiwi author this week (name, books, awards), and bring in a passage from one of their texts to share with the class that you find interesting.

Notice:

We have a lot of overdue books in Room 9. Please either return or renew these this week.

Preview Week 1

Maths:

We are learning about Median, Mode, Mean, and Averages. Talk with your child about what these terms mean with numbers.

Reading (Kikorangi, Kowhai, Waiporoporo):

We are revising prefixes and suffixes. Our spelling words all have either a prefix or suffix. Underline the prefix or suffix in their spelling words.

Topic: We are researching Kiwiana this term. Talk to your child about New Zealand icons. An icon could be a food, person, animal or item. Research New Zealand icons and create a list/brainstorm/chart of icons to share with the class by the end of next week.
